These are some stamped images I made for trading with others. I love getting new images! It adds to my collection!







The background papers on the bottom images are serendipity papers I made using mullberry papers on plain cardstock. They were so much fun to do, and so messy! I felt like I was back in grade school~ My white glue and messy hands. hahaha

Nope, I didn't eat the glue!

Emmy Awards tonight

Hubby and I love to watch television, so I thought I would check out to see who is up for what and make my guesses for winning the Emmy Awards tonight. Who knows, I may turn this into a scrapbook page LOL

My latest Creations~

I have been puttering a little in the craft room. I had a few challenges to do, and I had some cards to make.

These are stamped images I did for fall. I used various stamps (Making Memories and Stampin' UP) to create the images. I used paint rather than ink for a different look.




This is a belated birthday card that I made for my auntie. I was so behind in mailing my cards this year!

The last one here is the one that I made for a challenge on the Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog. It was a lot of fun trying to figure out how to incorporate a frog into a project.

3D Challenge

I belong to a design team, and the challenge for this week was to make something 3D. Well, I haven't been too active lately because of so many things, but this time I went all out and created 5 items:


This is my new coffee mug! I love it now that it is more "me". I used a Bella image that one of my wonderful paper crafting friends sent to me. The papers were all fav's from my stash.

Mr. Fix It Birthday Card

We all have one of those guys in our families who can fix anything. You know who he is. He is the one you call for every problem, and he usually knows the answer. If not, then he knows someone who knows the answer.

Last week was our Mr. Fix It's birthday, and what better card could I make for him? We had a paper piecing challenge at ScrappyFrogs. After completing a layout using paper piecing, I got the idea for this card for Mr. Fix It. I layered cardstock for his clothing hair, and shoes. I used the Sizzix Die cuts for this project. I modified the "shorts" from the summer set to make the tool belt. The screwdriver is a sticker from Jolee's. The stamps are from Stampin' Up and the Word Poetry stamp set.



I hope you like my second inspiration for paper piecing.

Tweety Bird Layout

I know I shared the story of the baby bird we rescued a few months ago. I finally got around to making a layout featuring "Tweety Bird".



Here is what I came up with:



The journaling slides in and hides behind the photos. The papers are from We R Memory Keepers. The chipboard accents are from DCWV Spring collection. I added doodling and faux stitching to the paper the change up the background using a white gel pen. The arrow and accents are also from We R Memory Keepers. The journaling paper I made out of cardstock, and I used my markers to mimic the grid pattern on the arrow and then inked it using a ColorBox Cat's eye.

Hubby's Birthday Card.

For hubby's birthday this year, I made two cards.

This first one was for my mom and dad to give him. I used some great chipboard letters from DCWV and some rub-ons I found in my stash. In the picture you can see the glue that I used to glue down the balloon strings, but it isn't noticeable in person.




The second one is the one from me. There is a little more to this card than it appears. We have a standing joke regarding my "porn" and his "porn". He calls scrapbooking and crafting my form or pornography. It is so bad of an inside joke, that now the entire family refers to it that way. I tease him about his "porn", because he loves watching "Cathouse" on HBO. I tease him that he dreams of growing up to be Dennis (the manager of the Bunny Ranch in Reno that is featured on the show). I couldn't decide what to make for his card, but I wanted something funny. I was looking through my stamps, and I found a bunny stamp --


Here is what I came up with:


I don't remember who was kind enough to share this Bella image with me, but thank you! It was perfect for this card! I colored her using watercolor pencils. I used my Creative Memories cutter for the ovals, and the cardstock is from a DCWV cardstock pack. I used my new Stampin' Up embossing plates to make the polka dots on the yellow cardstock, and then sanded them using my hand sanding block with fine sandpaper to let the white core show through.

The sentiment is stamped using an old set from Stampin' Up.


And then of course, we couldn't have a bunny ranch without the bunnies. This is from an old Stampin' Up stamp set. I colored the bunnies using watercolor pencils and crayons. Their tails are colored cotton balls that I found at the Dollar Store. The fence is made of Popsicle sticks and jewelry wire. The grass is made from mullberry paper.


So now you know the story behind the Bunny Ranch birthday card! LOL My family sure got a good laugh out of it. I have to give credit to my mom for telling me to find something to do with bunnies and the Bunny Ranch! She gave me the inspiration to start looking.

Birthday Card

My auntie just LOVES frilly and girly cards. I decided that was exactly what she was getting for her birthday.






I created this card using some K & Company papers I have had since the late 90's. LOL -- Yes, that isn't a typo! The vellum from that collection already had the glitter on it. I loved it so much. I just saved and saved it. I combined it with new cardstock from DCWV. The lace is from my sewing box, and the pearl button came from my great-granny's button collection. The ribbon is from the Walmart cheapie ribbon box.

Wow!

I am so far behind in posting! We have had HUGE problems with our Internet connection over the past two months, but it has been worse these past two weeks. I have been without a connection more days than I care to count. The technician was out today, and they think the problem is fixed. Keep your fingers crossed for me! LOL

I have a bunch of projects to get uploaded and added to my blog. I can't wait to touch base with everyone!

Color Wheel

Color wheels can be really helpful when planning pages, cards or any project, really.

Below is the basic color wheel from Creative Memories. They offered this for a while as a thank you gift for attending a crop. Their wheel includes the primary colors, as well as some of their pattern papers.

Father's Day Card

My mom wanted a father's day card for my grandfather, so this is what I came up with:



My grandpa loves fishing, and some of my favorite memories are of all of us down at the little lake tossing a line in the water.



Grandpa was so devoted to my grandmother, and we wanted to be sure to include a quote about how much his love for her meant to all of us.



I used various scraps of cardstock that I had in my stash. I used my new Sizzix Texturz Plates to make the embossing on the brown and beige backgrounds. I sanded the brown cardstock to bring the core color to the surface. The blue background paper is mullbery paper. The words were stamped using my poetry stamp set. The stickers are from Jolee's. All of the edges were inked using ColorBox chalks.

Pirate Background Challenge

For Scrappy Frogs we had a challenge to use this pirate ship style background to make something. The background was a freebie from Dustin Pike.

I colored the background using watercolor pencils and crayons, and used my H2O (water) pen to blend the colors. The cardstock is a leftover from another project.

I wanted to go a little different, so I tried to make it more of a manly card with fishing embellishments. Sorry, the picture on this one turned out a little dark.

Back to Creating!

Here is a graduation card I made for my cousin's daughter's 8th grade graduation:




















I wanted to do something a little different, so I used old cd's from our computers. My crop-a-dile was perfect for making the holes in the CD's for the binder ring. I used my circle cutter to make perfect circles to cover the cd's, and I used Creating Keepsakes papers. I adhered the papers to the cd's using tacky white glue, and let it dry overnight.

I used Creating Keepsakes sticker sentiments. I jazzed them up with Clear Stickles. I had some small Offray ribbons that I cut to decorate the cd's and the binder ring.

A Very Close Call...

Too close for comfort~

This is part of the fire crew from the jail that helped to put out the spot fires.

Yesterday a distant neighbor was clearing their property and burning leaves. The winds came up, and the fire quickly got away from them. My parents and I had just left the house to do our grocery shopping. Joe called on the phone to tell us that he was seeing fire trucks and smelling smoke. I was in shock, and said, "Are you sure?" He was serious!

We left everything we had in our carts and walked out of the store. As we were driving home, we could see the smoke plume in the air.

We remembered as we were leaving the bank that the Cal Fire truck went by with sirens blaring. We commented something along the lines of, "Oh no. I hope there isn't a big fire. We finished up at the bank and went on to do our shopping at Walmart, and my cell phone started ringing. It was the call from Joe.

This is one of the trucks that passed us as we left the bank.

All the way to the house, I kept thinking about what I would want to save and what could just be replaced. I decided to grab my photo albums, my laptop, some clothes, our toiletries, our medication, our bank account information, important papers, my camera, and the animals.

I never saw my dad drive so fast. We were all really worried. We pulled into the driveway to see firetrucks, smoke, and neighbors with hoses. I went into the house as fast as I could. Made sure Joe and the animals were ready. I grabbed my photo albums and camera. I then grabbed our meds and toiletries. We had just done laundry, so I figured a basket full would get us by for a few days.

This is the view from our front yard.

Then through the whole house and property I went taking pictures. I wanted to document everything in the house, but I also wanted to document all of the items outside, too. I figured insurance would be easier if I had immediately before pictures.

After the house was photographed, I went outside to photograph the fire, firefighters and of course, get some videos, too. LOL Leave it to a scrapbooker to want pictures of their house burning down!

This is the fire line they cut just yards from the house.

They were able to cut a fire line around our property and the neighbor's property mere minutes before the fire jumped into our back yards. The firemen on scene told me later that we really got a lucky break. They figured they were going to lose our house and the neighbor's house. When they came in with the D-8 Cat to cut the fire line, they ran into a fence. It slowed them down, and they had to cut through the fence to continue the line that would protect our houses.

The fire was moving very fast, and it took them from 5 - 10 minutes to get the fence down. The wind had slowed slightly, and that gave them the time they needed to get though the fence. He said if that small lull in the winds hadn't happened at that very minute, our places would have been in serious danger. Both houses most likely would have burned. As it was, the fire came in less than 100 yards of our house.

This is the D-8 when it first was cutting the lines (the fire is right in front of it).

Honestly, I was okay with whatever happened. I really didn't freak out or worry. I just figured it was all stuff, and stuff is replaceable. Maybe that attitude was what saved the house. Maybe it just wasn't our day to burn. Either way, yesterday our family was extremely lucky. We can look out the window, and count our blessings that the fire stopped there.
